We are a small, friendly and enthusiastic running club. Our club was formed by accident in the late nineties and we usually have about 20 active members. We are united by our love of running and a passion for the hills and countryside of Northumberland. Many of us enjoy walking and biking as well as running. Although well known for our high levels of conversational output whilst training and spontaneous partying, many of us do enter competitive events and challenges.
We have runners participating in road races such as The London Marathon, Great North Run and The Blaydon Race. We also enjoy fell races in the Cheviots, Northumberland and the Borders. In the past we have had successful teams in the 4 Peaks Challenge, The Great Glen Relay Race, The Caledonian Challenge, The Cheviot 2000 and Mountain Marathons.
With the help of most of the population of Wooler we organize and run The Chevy Chase, a 20 mile fell race and walk, which is a cracking event, more details available here. We have also hosted cross country and 10k races, we often talk about further events we might organizeā¦.watch this space.
We meet once a week to train as a club, though it is rare to find a day of the week when one or more of us is not out in the hills or pacing the streets. Other training evenings include navigation and map reading practice, magical mystery runs, midsummer swims and moonlight jaunts.
